BLUEBERRY I oil painting

$275.00

PAINTING DETAILS:

This is an original, one-of-a-kind painting of a perfectly ripe, perfectly round blueberry. It is an oil painting on professional-grade deep cradled painting panel and measures approximately 8″ in diameter and 7/8″ deep. I signed it on the back of the canvas and painted the sides of the painting blue to echo the front. The piece is ready to hang but not framed. Depending on your computer, colors may vary slightly from photographs. Shipping is free to the United States.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK:

My sticky sweet oil paintings transform glistening fruit into its own vibrant world. Capturing juicy pulp at the peak of ripeness highlights the beauty and vibrancy of life. My paintings are intimate, surprising, enigmatic, and bold as hell. Read more about my artwork here.

Blueberry symbolism in art, culture, and folklore spans from ancient Indigenous spiritual beliefs to modern aesthetic trends, generally representing themes of protection, wisdom, and the “sweetness” of life. Often referred to as “star berries” due to the five-pointed calyx on the fruit, they are traditionally associated with spiritual guidance and the bounty of nature. In art history, they can represent nostalgia and rural life. The color blue was expensive and rare so blueberries were held in high regard in still life paintings.
