This is an original painting of our summer place — Camp Barney Medintz. It is an impasto oil painting on professional cradled painting panel and measures 24″ long by 18″ wide and 1.5″ deep. It is signed by me, Angela Faustina, on the back of the canvas. The sides are painted black. The piece is ready to hang but not framed. Depending on your computer, colors may vary slightly from photographs.
Shipping is free to the United States.
For all original paintings in my Camp Barney Series, I am donating 50% of the retail price (which is the normal gallery commission) to CBM camper scholarships.
For all Camp Barney Series: Starry Night prints, 50% of the profits will be donated to CBM camper scholarships. The cost of printing decreases with the more prints that are pre-ordered, which means we can raise a bigger donation if you tell your camp friends!
ABOUT THE ARTWORK:
What if Vincent Van Gogh visited our summer place? This is what I imagined while painting this fun piece that looks from Sam’s Deck out onto Camp Barney Medintz and Lake Wendy. The moon, stars, and buildings glow as the familiar landscape takes an impressionist style and wind swirls in the sky. It shows familiar landmarks including the Chapel, beach, and the Chippee Amphitheater and other CPA buildings, with Horse Range Mountain in the distance. This is an impasto oil painting, which means the paint was brushed on in thick layers that pop off the canvas in Van Gogh’s style.
This piece was inspired by a teen chugim (elective class) that I created and taught as a visiting artist during the summer of 2017. During it we discussed Vincent Van Gogh’s artistic style and had impressionism influence us while creating some small Camp Barney landscape paintings. We then worked together to create a wonderful 5′ by 4′ painting entitled Starry Night over Camp Barney, which is still on display in the CBM summer office. Camp released their holiday card later that year and I was thrilled to see our large collaborative painting was used as the artwork!
