I’m thrilled to announce I was awarded a mini grant to paint my Southern Hospitality mural at the Art Fields SC Festival this April in Lake City, South Carolina. This mural joyfully celebrates the beauty and symbolism of peaches and muscadine grapes—fruits that are central to South Carolina’s agricultural legacy and cultural identity. Painted at a bold, larger-than-life scale, radiant peaches and cascading clusters of muscadines will unfurl across the wall, inviting viewers to pause, engage, and feel a deep sense of pride in place.
Peaches embody warmth, vitality, and generosity, while muscadine grapes—native to the Southeastern United States—stand as enduring symbols of resilience, longevity, and regional heritage. Together, they reflect the spirit of Southern hospitality and tell a triumphant story of abundance shaped by land, care, and tradition.
Rendered in my signature realistic yet idealistic style, the mural will feature luminous color, layered texture, and light-filled surfaces that create energy, depth, and movement. Designed to be welcoming and accessible to viewers of all ages, the composition can be thoughtfully added to or adapted to suit a wall of any size or shape. Through this imagery, familiar fruit is elevated into a vibrant, celebratory emblem of Lake City’s identity—honoring its roots while looking confidently toward the future.
