During the SHINE St. Petersburg Mural Festival exhibition, The Morean Arts Center held a concurrent art exhibition featuring more than 30 SHINE street artists and muralists.

The show featured artists from this year’s SHINE Mural Festival, along with other artists who have murals around Tampa Bay. The SHINE St. Petersburg Mural Festival exhibition was on view through the end of October 2018 . The opening reception was a lovely close to the festival.

The exhibition was designed to showcase additional works from each artist in mediums such as painting, mixed-media, drawing and prints—with a few select artists painting murals. This year’s show has a wide range of local, regional and international artists with a strong female presence. Amanda Cooper, Curator of Exhibitions states “There are several international artists like Nomad Clan from England, Belin from Spain, LOOK the Weird from Germany, as well as regional and beloved local artists Jennifer Kosharek, Cecilia Lueza, Palehorse and BASK. Also, there are several female artists in the show, which is terrific, since you tend to think it’s mainly guys out there in the heat with their spray cans. There are plenty of ladies out there, too!”

The show allowed the community the opportunity to not only recognize the broad range of street artists in the area, but also make the connection between their murals on a wall and their work at the gallery. These artists do much more than just street art and the MAC is proud to showcase these artists on a different platform.
